‘Princess Leia’
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Size: 91cm x 61cm
I was 7 years old when I first watched ‘Star Wars – A new hope’. As a family we have enjoyed the early Star Wars movies. My youngest daughter especially likes the strong and independent character of Princess Leia.
I grew up reading comics like Asterix and ‘Mad’, so this is painted like a graphic comic with the wording. I think that is partly one of the reasons I like using black outlines around the images in my art – a link back to my early appreciation of illustrated books and comics.
This painting is currently in the entrance by our front door and fits my family’s humour and personality, especially as my husband is rather protective of his car.
