The reference for this picture was from a photo in a magazine advert (I can’t remember what for, and I think it was a black and white image).

At the time I painted this, I had started work as a school administrator.  Our personal finances were still really tight and also the pressure at work was intense.  I did the role as a school administrator for over 6 years.  I learned a lot in my role as an administrator and I also grew to have a greater respect for teacher aides, teachers and principals for the challenges they are under on a daily basis and their dedication to the students.

I painted this as a bit of therapy and I enjoyed that I didn’t have to be very careful with the brush strokes.
