The cross means so much to me and I was thinking of a way of explaining why I do. I love the meaning of individual words and I came up with a pile. I whittled them down to 12 which described what I see, what I feel, and what I have when I look at the cross.
The different reason for my design is as follows: Twelve is a number used many times in the bible: 12 tribes of Israel, 12 disciples, and the book of Revelation speaks of the Heavenly city having 12 gates. I made the cross’s white – for sinless and pure like Jesus. The background is muddied colours – like our sin. The lines dividing the sections are scarlet as a reference to ‘the scarlet thread’ which refers to the messianic verses through the Old Testament that link to the lineage of Jesus.
