Many years ago, when our children little, I was as stay home mum.  Dishes seemed to be the constant task (oh how I love dish washers!) and as it seemed to take up so much of the day I wanted to use the time in a productive way.  I wrote down scripture in a journal and would have it propped up on the window sill and try and memorise it when I stood at the sink with the dishes.  It was a time of meditating on his word as I would try and remember it over and over.  My mind and spirit were very much being ‘watered by the word’ and my mind was being renewed.  The verse in Ephesians 5:25-24 explains it: ‘Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word.”

As the dishes were being washed, so was I.
