Embrace
‘Embrace’

I have often sketched my wooden mannikins for practice.  Once I set them up as if they were in an embrace.  It made me think about what an embrace can mean.  I thought about the warmth and goodness of a safe affectionate embrace.

An embrace can be a way to greet one another, or to comfort.  It can be a way to connect with others you identify and partner with, or a way to bond, to love, to forgive and to farewell.

An embrace can be between parent and child, siblings, grandparent and grandchild, friends, work mates, even our pets.  Hearts are drawn close to each other while sharing each other’s space which is an intimate thing.  With some people it is easier to give and receive an embrace than for others – while others find it hard to embrace even if there is affection, respect and even love for them.
