One of the things I enjoy doing is grabbing my camera and going for a wander around our home and take photos of flowers, trees and ‘rustic’ inspiration.  The reference for this pastel work came from one of those times.  The reason I chose this picture to draw is that I love the complimentary colours (red and green, and the contrast of light and very dark darks.  Also, I like how the sun came through the petals of the flower and the crisp shadows.

A lot of my art is symbolic, but I am also fascinated by trying to capture form and shadow with the best of my ability.  With that challenge, I know I will be a lifelong learner.  I am an admirer of past and present artists who capture realism.
