Our dog Buddy loves water and added to that, to chase sticks or balls.  Back Beach in New Plymouth is a great place for dogs and is one of his most favourite outings.

Buddy has a soft spot for all of us, but when it comes to ‘play’, then his best friend is our daughter.  He usually keeps pretty close to her, and doesn’t let her out of his sight sometimes.  She has come to nick name him ‘the prison guard’ and tries to escape him by playing ‘hide and seek’ – he can get quite frantic, but that is only for a short time and he can quickly sniff her out.

This is my second painting that originated from taking reference photos while we enjoyed an afternoon at Back Beach with Buddy.  Some of the simple things in life make the best memories.
