This image is taken from a photo of the painting as the original digital is no longer available.
This image might not be too clear, but there are black lines around each set of two blue and two green triangles. The black was painted with a black moulding paste to represent lead as in a church stain glass window.
Each space within the lead (with the green and blue triangles) represents a person. The green is a colour from earth as we are descendants of Adam and we are all having to deal with the challenges of our fleshly nature. The blue represents the part of us that is spirit, as we are not just flesh and blood. We are all different shapes and sizes with different personalities.
God is our link to each other = the black lead cross joins up with connecting lead around each person. We are different from each other (no set of triangles are identical) but we are all the same in our need for a saviour. Some of us are introverts, some are extroverts, some like set boundaries, and some like to push boundaries and be adventurous. We live together shoulder to shoulder.
Alone we may feel unqualified to serve Christ effectively, but together we make up a strong group, strong enough to serve God in any way. We need patience to accept the differences in each other and build on the variety of strengths represented. Like a stain glass window, our true colours will show when the ‘Son’ shines through us; we should bring beauty into the world.
