‘Father Forgive Them’
Medium: Acrylic on canvas board
Size: n/a

This is a second version of a painting that I did many years before which I called ‘Forgiveness’.

Jesus is our ultimate example of forgiving people.  I chose to focus on his eyes as before in the ‘Forgiveness’ painting.  The verse quoted is in Luke 2:34 when Jesus was being nailed to a wooden cross by Roman soldiers.  He said “Father forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing.”  I wanted to stop and think about the pain that was behind those words while he was saying it, and the love Jesus had for his executioners as well as all of us whose sin put him on the cross.
