This was painted at a time of waiting in my life, and when I felt like I was in ‘the wilderness’. We had moved to a new area a couple of years before (after a few moves before that) and this new location had not been a happy move as it was done in a bit of desperation. My husband wasn’t happy with our decision to where we ended up for justifiable reasons and we had already started talking about moving again. We were challenged with finances so there was no easy or quick solution. Even though I painted this, my creative times at that stage were rare and everything seemed pretty bleak. I was looking for signs from God for what we should do, but I didn’t get any direction from the spirit.
What I learned at the time (and keep on learning) is that waiting is an important time. It is time to invest in relationships, time to enjoy the simple things, and a time to seek God’s face and study his word, and even just a time to stop and think and plan for the future.
