‘Son Shine’
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Size: n/a

I remember being in church when we lived in Melbourne and having my hands lifted up, eyes closed and singing my heart out to God.  I pictured myself like a plant stretching and soaking up the sun’s warmth and light.  I recorded my idea in a sketch book, but it was quite a number of years later before I developed the idea into a painting.  I painted the flower being planted in a dark place but stretching itself to be in the light.  Many people who come to know God didn’t grow up in a Christian family but were drawn to ‘the light’ of His love and warmth.  Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows in me will never walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
