‘Why Compare’
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Size: n/a

This image is taken from a photo of the painting as the original digital image is no longer available.

I may not be a colourful personality, like a tui compared to a rainbow lorikeet.  I may not be well travelled like an albatross, or be big and powerful like an eagle.  I need to be me, just like a tui is happy with just being a tui.  When I hear the song of the tui, it makes me long to see it and to stop and listen.  After living in Australia for nearly 3 years, I really felt like I was home when I heard the tui as it is unique to New Zealand.

Look closely at a tui and its colourings, you see that they are more than just black and white – there is more to them if you take time to look (which can be said for everyone).  Each of us are unique.  God has made each of us a ‘one of a kind’ which makes us very valuable and we don’t need to compare ourselves with anyone else.
