Lost Potential
‘Lost Potential’

Access to healthy drinking water is essential to life.  A tap or pump that can bring clean spring water from in dry parts of the world

Imagine the disappointment when these taps don’t produce the water needed.  The Christian believer is to be like a tap with God flowing through us to refresh others.  The picture is of 4 taps not reaching their potential:

  1. Not flowing: not reaching the flow because of lack of intimacy and time with God.
  2. Dirty water: not with clean water from God but contaminated water from bitterness, pride, slander and unforgiveness – it’s poisonous.
  3. Ceased up and hidden: rusty from unuse and hidden in weeds which make it ineffective (worries of the world like stated in Jesus’ parable of the sower in Matthew 13:22)
  4. Not connected: the religious tap – looks shiny and perfect, but not connected to the water. It might be quite proud of itself on how it looks to everyone but it isn’t refreshing anyone.

We are to be like a tap who doesn’t get all uptight in the way it looks, but sees that it is a vessel that has live giving water flowing through it and is able to bring water to those who are needing it.  It is the water that is important.  The tap works in partnership to get it to the people.
