With the story of the woman caught in adultery (John 8:1-11), it is a powerful illustration of Jesus’ compassion, grace, mercy and wisdom.  It is also an illustration of mankind’s brutality, slander and hateful heart.  I love how Jesus turned this situation around and turned a mirror to the accusers so they could look at their own hearts and therefore protecting and restoring the woman.

This picture has the changing atmosphere in the background from clouds that were dark and foreboding, to clear and bright with a sign of the rainbow of God’s mercy – much like how the charged atmosphere was changed when Jesus intervened.
