Hebrews 4:12 says: ‘For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
I experience the effects of God’s word doing what this verse states, but especially when I was a new Christian and young adult at the time. I would read a passage in the bible or a verse and I would feel pained as it would reveal my motivations, attitudes and actions of bad character choices. The word would show my excuses for what they were – flimsy, shallow and selfish. In the early days this seemed to happen nearly on a day-to-day occurrence. God’s word has guided me, and even 3 decades later, continues to reveal my inner attitudes, so I can be guided in a better way.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 says: “All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
